Tigres del Licey announce training start for 2025-26 season

The Tigres del Licey have announced the start of their training camp for the 2025-26 Dominican Professional Baseball League season. Training is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 21, at the Toronto Blue Jays Academy located in Baseball City, Boca Chica.

The team's coaching staff will be led by Gilbert Gómez, who currently serves as a first base coach for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball. The technical staff includes Wellington Cepeda as bench coach, Carlos Lugo for game planning, Gerardo Casadiego as pitching coach, and César Cabral as assistant pitching coach. Other additions to the staff include Alexis Candelario as bullpen coach, Josué Pérez as batting coach, José Umbría as assistant batting coach, and Fidel Peña as quality control coach.

The Licey season officially kicks off on October 16, when they face the Leones del Escogido in the inaugural round of the autumn-winter tournament.
