Tigres UANL advances in Leagues Cup after penalty shootout win over Vancouver

Tigres UANL advanced in the Leagues Cup after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Rodrigo Aguirre scored for Tigres in the 19th minute, but Emmanuel Sabbi equalized for Vancouver in the 79th minute.

The match was marked by significant disciplinary issues for the Mexican side. Goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán was sent off after an altercation with referee Iván Barton, where he reportedly pushed the official. Guzmán also displayed frustration in the tunnel by striking objects. Diego Lainez was also ejected during the match.

With this victory, Tigres reaches six points, placing them on the edge of qualification for the quarter-finals. Their advancement now depends on the results of other Liga MX teams, specifically Monterrey and Toluca, in the final matches of the group stage.
