Tigres midfielder Gorriarán calls for turnaround after key departures
Uruguayan midfielder Fernando Gorriarán has called for a turnaround at Tigres following the departure of several key players. The club currently sits in fifteenth place in the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament with 6 points from 18 possible, trailing the leader, América, by 10 points.
The squad has seen significant leadership losses with the departures of Argentine players Ángel Correa, who joined River Plate, and Guido Pizarro, as well as the club’s all-time leading scorer, French striker André-Pierre Gignac. Gorriarán emphasized to his teammates that despite these absences, the institution must continue to compete.
Gorriarán expressed confidence that the team can begin its recovery during the upcoming derby against Monterrey, managed by Matías Almeyda.
