Tigres target Colo Colo coach Fernando Ortiz for 2026 Liga MX season

Mexican club Tigres UANL is reportedly pursuing Argentine coach Fernando Ortiz, who is currently leading Chilean side Colo Colo. Ortiz has guided Colo Colo to the top of the Chilean league table and is on course for a championship, with a contract that runs until the end of the year.

Tigres, struggling after the recent resignation of Guido Pizarro, are looking for a replacement and see Ortiz as a prime candidate. Sources suggest the club has already inquired about Ortiz, but his success in South America and a possible release clause in his contract could complicate a move back to Mexico for the Apertura 2026.

Analysts note that while Ortiz is familiar with Mexican football from a previous stint at Santos, his current commitments and the timing of the Chilean season may delay any transfer, leaving Tigres to consider alternative options.
