Tigres UANL signs Martínez and Gómez to bolster attack

Tigres UANL has officially integrated two new attacking reinforcements, Guillermo “Memote” Martínez and Emiliano Gómez, following their signings for the Apertura 2026 tournament. Both players participated in their first training session this Thursday.

Guillermo Martínez, a 31-year-old Mexican striker and national team player, joined Tigres from Pumas UNAM for a reported fee of $2.5 million. Reports indicate that Cruz Azul had previously attempted to sign Martínez for approximately $5 million during a prior transfer window, but Pumas declined the offer. Martínez stated he chose Tigres to seek greater stability for his family and to compete for playing time to maintain his position with the national team.

Emiliano Gómez, a 24-year-old Uruguayan forward, arrives from Puebla. Gómez, who has previously played for Defensor Sporting, Albacete, and Boston River, has scored 11 goals in Mexican football since arriving in 2024. Tigres aims to bolster its offensive capabilities as the team currently sits in 15th place in the standings.
