Tihama region identified as key to liberating Yemen's coast

Journalist Mohammed Al-Masbi has called for a strategic restructuring of the battle to liberate Yemen's coast, emphasizing the political and military empowerment of the Tihama region's population.

Al-Masbi argues that the Tihama region is the key to closing Houthi influence on the coast. He suggests that the historical precedent of the 2015 liberation of Aden could be repeated in the coastal areas if decision-making is unified and local initiatives are restored. He expressed concern over the declining political and media identity of the Tihama resistance since it was integrated into larger military formations.

The proposal advocates for maintaining the distinct identity of the Tihama resistance while ensuring military coordination with Tareq Saleh and other anti-Houthi forces. Al-Masbi highlighted that the lack of Tihama representation in the Presidential Leadership Council is a significant imbalance given the region's demographic and geographic importance. He stressed that liberating territory must be accompanied by granting local residents a decisive role in managing their future, rather than imposing new forms of guardianship.
