Cluj Arena to host Dinamo vs FCSB derby as Bucharest stadium is unavailable

The high-profile football derby between Dinamo and FCSB, scheduled for early September, will be held at Cluj Arena instead of Bucharest's Arena Națională. This marks the first time in Superliga history that the match will not take place in the capital. The decision follows reports that Arena Națională is unavailable due to scheduled maintenance and grass replacement following various summer festivals. Dinamo officials confirmed that all parties, including FCSB and the Professional Football League (LPF), have agreed to the move to Cluj.

In other Romanian football news, the play-off stage of the Romanian Cup is underway, featuring 16 matches between August 18 and 20. Liga 1 teams such as Petrolul, Farul Constanța, and Steaua București are entering the competition. Meanwhile, in Liga 2, FC Bihor is preparing for a match against ASA Târgu Mureș, and the club has expressed interest in bringing mobile lighting to Oradea if they qualify for the Cup group stages to accommodate large crowds.

Recent Cup matches saw Știința Poli Timișoara advance past CSC Dumbrăvița with a 1-0 win in extra time, while CSM Târgu Jiu was eliminated on penalties by SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea.
