Tijuana begins construction of pedestrian bridge for Rosario Castellanos University
Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz led the groundbreaking ceremony for a new pedestrian bridge at the Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos, located along Boulevard 2000 in the Bodegas neighborhood. The project aims to improve safety and mobility for more than 3,000 students who currently face risks crossing the busy boulevard.
The construction will be funded entirely by the Tijuana City Council with an investment exceeding 51 million pesos. According to Virginia Vargas González, Secretary of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development, the structure will feature a 60-meter span, a 90-meter north-south ramp, a staircase, and a foundation consisting of 18 piles, each 13 meters deep. The bridge will also include lighting and signage to enhance security for pedestrians.
