Tijuana family demands trial in fatal accident case
The family of Silvia Aurora and her 73-year-old grandmother is demanding that the judicial process regarding their fatal accident in the Planicie neighborhood of Tijuana move forward to an oral trial.
More than a year after the accident occurred on August 12, 2025, Alejandra López, the mother of the child, appeared in court to express concern over legal delays. The defense for the accused, identified as Alejandra “N”, has filed a third injunction (amparo) to modify her legal status. The family fears this could result in the removal of preventive detention, potentially allowing the defendant to flee while the case continues.
López has criticized the succession of hearings and legal resources used by the defense, which she claims have stalled the proceedings. She has called for the court to consider allegations of speeding and driving under the influence. Additionally, she proposed the creation of a commission for victims of traffic accidents to ensure their rights are protected and to advocate for better road safety prevention.
