Mexico celebrates National Firefighters Day with regional honors

Various municipalities and regions across Mexico observed National Firefighters Day, marked by ceremonies, equipment donations, and institutional recognitions.

In Ecatepec, the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos celebrated its 50th anniversary. Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss highlighted improvements in working conditions, including better salaries and equipment, following a period of neglect. In Villa de Álvarez, the Rotary Club of Coquimatlán and local business leaders donated a new fire engine to the Municipal Civil Protection Unit.

Other regional recognitions included the Tijuana Fire Department, which celebrated 104 years of service, and the Monclova Fire and Civil Protection corps, which is seeking to strengthen alliances with agencies in Texas. In Cuernavaca, municipal officials honored personnel for their role in responding to forest fires and urban emergencies. Additionally, the state of Tamaulipas activated the 'Plan Tamaulipas' to combat large-scale grassland fires, while Unión de Tula established a new Civil Protection and Firefighters Commission to strengthen emergency response strategies.
