Tijuana man dies from electrocution while inspecting wiring

A 64-year-old man, identified by his family as Julián, died from an electric shock while inspecting wiring in the El Niño neighborhood of Tijuana, located along the old Tijuana-Tecate highway.

Julián, an electrical installer, had been sent to check the wiring of a residence because the area was experiencing a lack of power supply. During the task, he suffered a discharge that left him suspended on an aluminum ladder in the middle of the main street.

Emergency responders, including municipal police, firefighters, and Red Cross paramedics, arrived at the scene but confirmed he had no vital signs. Personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) attended to ensure the lines were de-energized and to assist in the recovery of the body. The body remained at the site for over two hours awaiting the State Attorney General's Office to conduct necessary investigations before being transferred to the Forensic Medical Service.
