Tijuana modernizes La Morita wastewater plant to serve 124,000 residents

The Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT) is modernizing the La Morita wastewater treatment plant in the city's eastern zone. Director General Mónica Vega Aguirre inspected the project, which is slated for completion later this year and will benefit more than 124,000 inhabitants.

The upgrade, funded with over 94 million pesos from the State Water Sanitation Program and the Rights Restoration Program, is about 80 % finished. Work includes rehabilitation of biological reactors, installation of high‑efficiency aeration and submersible mixers, renewal of sludge‑handling equipment, and new pumping systems. These improvements are intended to increase operational capacity, improve water‑quality treatment, and reduce residual waste, strengthening the city's overall sanitation infrastructure.
