Tijuana municipal security office launches dating‑violence awareness and women‑protection programs

The Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana Municipal (SSPCM) in Tijuana, through its Escuadrón Violeta, is promoting early identification of dating‑partner violence. The campaign outlines warning signs such as controlling behavior, excessive jealousy, verbal insults, threats, intimidation, and physical aggression, and provides resources including the "Botón Morado" app and a dedicated hotline (664‑680‑31‑87) for immediate assistance.

In a related effort, SSPCM held a training session for more than 25 women in the Mariano Matamoros neighborhood, partnering with the Red Mujeres Construyendo la Paz. Participants received information on risk factors for family violence—such as substance abuse, economic stress, cultural patterns, and low self‑esteem—and were instructed on how to use support tools like the Botón Morado. Both initiatives aim to strengthen preventive measures, encourage reporting, and build safer community environments for women and couples in Tijuana.
