Tijuana Police Youth Celebrates 66 Years of Community Service
Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado presided over the ceremony marking the 66th anniversary of the Police Youth of Tijuana, emphasizing the program’s contribution to the formation of children and adolescents through values such as honor, loyalty, discipline and teamwork, and its role in building a safer city.
The program now comprises 16 units with about 900 young members who receive training each Saturday in formation, sport and prevention activities. Cadet Luis Javier Ibáñez Veloz spoke about how the program strengthened his respect and perseverance, while cabo Velen Isabel Barraza Valencia recounted how the organization became a second family after her sister’s death. The event also honored 17 youths with promotions, recognized 313 appointments across the ranks, and presented special awards to the musical group “Los Subtenientes de Tijuana,” the Instructor of the Year, and a posthumous tribute to cabo Valeria Montserrat Barraza Valencia.
