Tijuana rescuer seeks aid for 74 dogs in local shelter

Evangelina Hernández Pérez, an independent rescuer in Tijuana, is seeking community assistance to support 74 dogs currently housed in her shelter located in the Vista Encantada neighborhood. Having dedicated seven years to animal rescue, Hernández Pérez reports that her primary challenge is securing access to water, a situation worsened by recent high temperatures.

The shelter lacks piped water services, forcing the rescuer to spend approximately 1,000 pesos per week on water trucks. While she generates some income through her “Taxi Pet” pet transport service, her weekly expenses for food, water, and medicine reach nearly 8,000 pesos.

More than half of the dogs in her care are not part of a paid boarding program, meaning she covers their costs personally. She is requesting donations of water, including water trucks, gallons, or drums, to ensure the animals' needs are met.
