Tijuana temporarily closes Chaparral Bridge for safety upgrades

The Tijuana municipal government announced a temporary closure of the historic Chaparral Bridge (Puente El Chaparral) on Avenida Revolución to Avenida de la Amistad from 08:00 to 12:00, Monday 3 August through Monday 10 August. The work, overseen by the Secretariat of Territorial and Urban Development (SDTU) through the Municipal Directorate of Urban Works (DOIUM), will install preventive signage, remove the existing expansion joint, reinforce the structure with a new slab‑union system and pour a high‑strength concrete base.

Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado and DOIUM director Carlos Gastélum Félix urged residents to plan extra travel time, respect traffic signs and use alternative routes while the bridge is closed to improve mobility and safety for daily commuters.
