Tijuana Water Agency Boosts Women Participation in Operational Teams

The Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT) partnered with the Cascos Rosas program to increase women’s involvement in operational roles for water and sanitation services. Participants received hands‑on training alongside CESPT field crews during a project that restored 145 metres of sewer line in the Jardines del Rubí neighbourhood. The initiative, supported by the Asociación Nacional de Entidades de Agua y Saneamiento de México (ANEAS), aims to give women practical experience, technical knowledge and safety procedures required for infrastructure maintenance. CESPT chief Monica Vega Aguirre highlighted the project as a way to create more professional opportunities for women and to strengthen the agency’s operational capacity.

The field exercise allowed the women to observe and contribute to real‑world repairs, emphasizing teamwork, technical competence and responsibility to the community.
