Tijuana to install massive hydration point amid heat wave

The Baja California state health secretariat, led by Adrián Medina Amarillas, is coordinating with the Tijuana municipal government to set up a large‑scale hydration station for vulnerable residents during the summer heat. The site, being considered in the city’s Zona Norte, will offer free drinking water, oral rehydration solution, bottled water, showers, air‑conditioned space and medical triage, mirroring similar facilities that have operated for years in Mexicali. Officials say the point aims to prevent heat‑related illnesses among people experiencing homelessness and others who lack reliable access to cooling or hydration. The initiative follows a regional strategy that previously placed hydration houses in neighborhoods such as Parque del Mariachi and Parque del Ferrocarril, and will include on‑site medical consultations and referral pathways for specialists if needed.
