Tijuana restores water service as Booster El Carrizo repairs progress

More than 250 neighborhoods in Tijuana lost tap water after the Booster El Carrizo, a key pressure‑boosting unit, failed. The Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tijuana (CESPT) began replacing damaged components at the Río Colorado‑Tijuana aqueduct workshops. Director Mónica Vega Aguirre said specialists from the Comisión Estatal del Agua and SEPROA work continuously to finish the repairs.

While the equipment is being rebuilt, CESPT keeps free water‑truck brigades operating to supply affected families. Residents have been urged to use the water sparingly and report any attempts to charge for the free service. The agency expects a gradual restoration, with most colonies expected to have water again by 14 July.

The outage highlighted the vulnerability of the water network during the summer heat, prompting officials to stress the need for careful consumption until the booster is fully operational.
