Tijuana's DIF reaches 48,000 residents with job‑training workshops across five centers
Since October 2024 the Tijuana branch of the municipal DIF has served more than 48,000 people through 71 low‑cost vocational workshops. The programs operate in five Community Development Centers located in San Antonio de los Buenos, Presa Este, Cerro Colorado, La Mesa and Otay Centenario.
Courses focus on high‑demand local skills such as beauty services, nail application, hair styling, tailoring, baking, pastry making and food preparation. Participants also benefit from complementary health services, including psychological counseling and dental care, as well as cultural, recreational and sports activities aimed at children and adolescents.
The initiative seeks to reduce economic vulnerability by fostering self‑employment and improving household incomes, while plans are under way to expand partnerships with local businesses to improve job placement for graduates.
