TikTok Brazil removes 4.3 million videos as creator commerce sales surge

TikTok reported that 4.3 million videos violating its community guidelines were removed in Brazil between January and March, averaging one deletion every two seconds – roughly 2,000 prohibited videos per hour. The removals included content related to sexual and physical abuse of minors, highlighted by a case where a 17‑year‑old victim of a collective rape was streamed live.

In the same market, TikTok Shop’s creator‑commerce model experienced rapid growth. Live‑stream sales on the platform rose 143% in gross merchandise value (GMV) between October 10 and Black Friday, with total transaction volume up 129% over the same period. The service, now in its first year in Brazil, has expanded to include YouTube Shopping and attracted traditional retailers using creators as sales channels. Data‑analytics firm VYRAL and its founder Gustavo Magalhães note that real‑time sales data has turned creator commerce from a trend into a structured market category.
