TikTok launches AI shopping assistant and one-click checkout

TikTok has announced a major expansion of its e-commerce capabilities through the introduction of agentic commerce tools. At Advertising Week New York, the company unveiled Shopping Assistant, a conversational AI agent designed to guide users through the shopping process by providing real-time information on product details, sizing, shipping, and availability. The assistant is built to understand context and remember user preferences throughout a conversation.

To complement the assistant, TikTok is launching Buy Direct, a one-click checkout feature. This tool allows users to complete purchases directly from their For You feed using stored payment methods and addresses, minimizing the need to leave the app. These features are being developed in collaboration with major commerce and payment providers, including Shopify, Salesforce, Shoplazza, and Stripe, and utilize the Universal Commerce Protocol.

Additionally, TikTok introduced Agentic Leads, an AI agent that qualifies sales leads through automated conversations in direct messages or on advertiser websites. The company is also expanding its advertising reach, opening the TikTok Ad Network to U.S. advertisers for campaigns across approximately 400,000 third-party apps. These tools are currently undergoing eligibility-based testing in the United States.
