TikTok launches Music on Stage 2026 global music competition

TikTok is hosting the 2026 edition of its global music competition, “Music on Stage,” a program designed to discover and support independent musical talent through digital streaming and live performances. The initiative spans more than 20 regions and offers winners professional opportunities, including recording original music, production backing, and promotional support via TikTok’s distribution platform, SoundOn.

In Japan, the competition will culminate in a national final broadcast live on TikTok LIVE on August 28, 2026. Renowned artist and DJ, DJ KOO, will serve as a judge for the Japanese finals, evaluating contestants on their individuality, sensibility, and ability to connect with an audience. The winners of the Japanese round will advance to the global finals scheduled for September.

Successful participants in the global stages may earn opportunities to perform at major physical events, such as TikTok LIVE Fest and various international music festivals. The program aims to bridge the gap between bedroom streaming and professional industry recognition.
