TikTok reports first operating profit of $451.9 million
TikTok has achieved its first operating profit, marking a significant financial turnaround for the platform. According to official filings from its UK-based holding company, TikTok Information Technology UK Limited, the company reported an operating profit of $451.9 million. This follows a loss of $484 million recorded in 2024.
Revenue for the period reached $9.2 billion, representing a growth of approximately 46% compared to the previous year. This expansion was driven primarily by advertising, e-commerce via TikTok Shop, and live streaming services. The company also reported a net profit of $702.6 million, though this figure was influenced by a $422.2 million tax benefit related to deferred tax assets.
Despite the improved profitability, the company faces ongoing regulatory and legal challenges. Provisions for legal matters, including investigations related to data protection, privacy, minor safety, and compliance with the Digital Services Act and GDPR, amounted to approximately $1.05 billion at the end of 2025. The parent company, ByteDance, continues to oversee the global network, which includes the Douyin platform in China and a North American division subject to specific government oversight.
