TikTok Shop faces consumer complaints and booming live sales
A Mexican buyer, David González, spent €42 on a fan purchased through TikTok Shop that arrived defective. He reports that the platform offers no phone or email support, forcing him to navigate an internal chat that erases history and provides delayed, untranslated responses. After several weeks, TikTok promised a refund, but the payment failed twice due to alleged PayPal issues, leaving the consumer without the product or his money.
At the same time, British entrepreneur Daisy Kelly highlights the rapid growth of TikTok’s live‑shopping feature. Her brand, Glow For It, generates $8 million in annual revenue, with more than 40 % of sales coming from TikTok Shop UK. Kelly claims she earned over $120 000 in a single 12‑hour live broadcast, illustrating how the platform’s live‑commerce model is boosting sales for creators and small businesses across multiple markets.
