TikTok Shop shows high repeat purchase intent in Japan survey
A survey conducted by ripples on 410 TikTok Shop users indicates that the platform is moving beyond temporary viral trends toward established repeat consumption patterns in Japan.
Key findings show that 72% of respondents intend to continue shopping on TikTok Shop, while 70% expressed satisfaction. Notably, 65% of users reported an increase in purchase frequency compared to one year ago, with 30.7% stating their frequency has increased significantly.
The report attributes this trend to a unique circular purchasing journey: “viewing → discovery → purchase → re-viewing.” Unlike traditional e-commerce models based on “search → comparison → purchase,” TikTok Shop leverages short videos and live streaming to maintain continuous contact between consumers, creators, and brands, fostering long-term relationships rather than one-off transactions.
