TikToker Thao Ran Ri arrested for illegal high-interest lending

Nguyen Thi Thao, a TikToker known as ‘Thao Ran Ri’, has been arrested and detained by the Son La Provincial Police for illegal high-interest lending. Thao, who has over 263,000 followers on TikTok, is known for her distinctive camouflage-style clothing.

Investigators state that since 2023, Thao provided multiple loans to an individual named N.T.D. totaling 180 million VND in principal. The interest rate was set at 5,000 VND per 1 million VND per day, which equates to an annual rate of 182.5%. Through these activities, she is alleged to have gained nearly 500 million VND in profit.
