Tilak Varma manages knee injury during T20I series in New Zealand

Indian batter Tilak Varma left the field during New Zealand's innings in the third T20I after suffering a knee issue while fielding. The vice-captain was attended to by the team physio, leaving his availability for the subsequent chase uncertain.

Ahead of the fourth T20I, Varma discussed his batting strategy and leadership role alongside captain Shreyas Iyer. He emphasized a calculated approach to middle-order batting, focusing on taking games deep and breaking chases into manageable phases to reduce pressure.

India currently holds a 2-0 lead in the series. Varma’s recent performance included a match-winning, unbeaten 51 off 26 balls in the second T20I, where he helped secure a victory through a 69-run partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy.
