Tilak Verma appointed captain of South Zone for Dilip Trophy

Tilak Verma, the Indian T20 team's vice‑captain, has been named captain of the South Zone's 15‑member squad for the upcoming Dilip Trophy. The tournament will run from 23 August to 10 September 2024 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Riki Bhuvi of Andhra Pradesh has been appointed vice‑captain, and former ACA secretary Sona Satish Babu convened the selection panel chaired by former Ranji Trophy player R.V. Chandramouli Prasad.

The South Zone roster includes experienced batsmen Karun Nair, Abhinav Tejarana, and Shekhar Rashed, as well as emerging players such as KM Himteja, R. Smaran, N. Jagdisen (wicket‑keeper), Tanay Tyagarajan, Shreyas Gopal, K. Sai Teja, T. Vijay, Vidvath Kaverappa and MD Nidhish. MN Vikram Verma has been appointed head coach. Because the zone reached the final in the previous season, it receives a direct entry into the semifinals. South Zone will begin its campaign on 30 August, facing the winner of Quarter‑final 2 at BCCI COE Ground 2.
