Tim Allen: Career overview and 1978 arrest details

American actor and comedian Tim Allen, born Timothy Alan Dick in 1953, has built a career spanning several decades in film, television, and voice acting. He is widely recognized for his roles as Tim “The Toolman” Taylor in ‘Home Improvement’ and Mike Baxter in ‘Last Man Standing’, as well as voicing Buzz Lightyear in the ‘Toy Story’ franchise.

Before his rise to fame, Allen faced significant legal challenges. In 1978, at age 25, he was arrested in a sting operation at the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport in Michigan for cocaine trafficking. To avoid a mandatory life sentence under strict state laws, Allen cooperated with federal investigators, providing information that led to the indictment of approximately 20 individuals. He served two years and four months in a federal correctional institution before being paroled in 1981, after which he transitioned into the Michigan stand-up comedy circuit.
