Tim Brosnan Named Big East Conference Commissioner

Tim Brosnan, a former chief operating officer of Major League Baseball, is set to become the sixth commissioner of the Big East Conference, succeeding Val Ackerman, who will retire at the end of August after 13 years in the role. Brosnan brings extensive business and television experience, having helped launch MLB Network and the World Baseball Classic and overseeing a rise in league revenues from about $1.5 billion in 1991 to nearly $8.5 billion by 2015.

A 1980 graduate of Georgetown University and a 1984 law graduate of Fordham University, Brosnan has remained involved in college athletics, including advising Georgetown on name, image and likeness matters. The Big East, a basketball‑focused conference, has recently won four national titles, including UConn championships in 2023 and 2024.
