Tim Burton works see renewed interest in film and theater

The cinematic works of director Tim Burton are seeing renewed interest through different mediums. On Netflix, the 2005 film ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, based on the Roald Dahl novel, has regained popularity. The film follows Charlie Bucket as he discovers a golden ticket that grants him access to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory.

In Punta Arenas, the Municipal Theater Ensemble premiered a theatrical adaptation of ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Directed by Paulina Carrasco, the production transforms the 1990 film into a family-oriented play designed to address themes of prejudice and discrimination. The local production featured an intergenerational cast of 15 actors ranging from 11 to 76 years old.
