Tim Cook suggests he may not lead Apple in a decade
Apple CEO Tim Cook has indicated that he does not expect to be leading the company a decade from now. In a recent interview, Cook noted that while he feels great in his current role, ten years is a long period and he likely will not still be at the company in that timeframe.
Cook, who has been with Apple for over 20 years and took over as CEO following the death of Steve Jobs in 2011, has overseen a period of significant growth, including the company reaching a market capitalization of over $2 trillion.
Regarding executive compensation, Cook’s earnings are primarily performance-based. While his base salary has remained at $3 million since 2016, his total compensation fluctuates significantly based on stock awards and incentives. For instance, his total compensation exceeded $99 million in 2022 and was approximately $49 million in 2023. This performance-based structure is also utilized for other top executives, such as CFO Luca Maestri.
