Tim Curry dies at 80 from coronary artery disease

British actor Tim Curry has died at the age of 80. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, his death occurred on August 25 at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, due to coronary artery disease. Contributing factors included a history of kidney cancer and a stroke.

Curry gained international recognition for his iconic role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 film ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’. His diverse career included roles in ‘Clue’, ‘Muppet Treasure Island’, ‘Legend’, ‘Home Alone 2’, and as Pennywise in ‘It’. Following a serious stroke in 2012 that left him wheelchair-bound, he continued to work primarily in voice acting.

Colleagues and fellow entertainers, including Susan Sarandon and Carol Burnett, have shared tributes to his legacy in film, television, and theater.
