Tim Curry's cause of death confirmed as coronary artery disease

Official documents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health have confirmed that British actor Tim Curry died of coronary artery disease. Curry passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80 at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles.

Medical records also identified a history of stroke and kidney cancer as significant contributing factors to his death, though they were not the primary cause. Curry had been managing serious health issues for many years, notably following a major stroke in 2012 that left him partially paralyzed and reliant on a wheelchair.

Curry was a celebrated character actor, best known for his iconic role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’. His extensive career included memorable performances in ‘It’, ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’, ‘Clue’, and ‘Muppet Treasure Island’. In his later years, he focused largely on voice acting and released his memoirs, ‘Vagabond’, in 2025.
