American billionaire and venture capitalist Tim Draper has put Lupita Island, a 110-acre private island in Tanzania, up for sale for $7.9 million or the best offer. Draper, an early investor in companies such as Tesla and SpaceX, announced the sale via X, stating that his family does not use the property frequently enough.

Located in Lake Tanganyika, the island features a luxury resort developed by Draper over four years following his purchase in 2004. The facilities include ten guest cottages accommodating up to 26 people, a spa, a gym, a swimming pool, several bars, and a private beach. The property also includes a 46-foot boat for activities such as kayaking, fishing, and snorkeling.

The island is remote, typically requiring visitors to fly to a mainland airstrip before traveling by boat. While Draper has received several offers and expects a quick sale, the $7.9 million figure is his personal valuation rather than an independent assessment. Details regarding land-title structures, tourism licenses, and whether the sale includes the existing hospitality staff and business operations remain undisclosed.
