Tim Draper urges Apple and Meta to adopt Bitcoin as reserve asset

Venture capitalist Tim Draper has urged major global corporations, specifically naming Apple and Meta, to include Bitcoin in their reserve assets. Draper characterized the failure of such large-scale companies to hold Bitcoin as ‘irresponsible,’ arguing that relying solely on cash and traditional financial assets leaves them vulnerable to currency devaluation and shifting financial markets.

Draper suggested that Bitcoin serves as a vital hedge against risks such as hyperinflation, rising interest rates, and potential banking crises stemming from excessive government spending. He proposed specific holding guidelines, recommending that individuals maintain at least six months' worth of Bitcoin and corporations hold at least four weeks' worth on their balance sheets to mitigate the risks of fiat currency instability.

While Draper highlighted Bitcoin’s advantages in decentralization, transparency, and liquidity, the move remains a personal investment view. Critics and market analysts note that Bitcoin's high volatility, regulatory uncertainty, and accounting complexities present significant risks for corporate treasury management, as seen in previous instances where digital asset holdings negatively impacted corporate valuations during market downturns.
