Tim Gajser to end 2026 MXGP season early due to injury

Five-time motocross world champion Tim Gajser will end his 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship season prematurely due to a rib injury. The Slovenian rider, competing for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, will miss the upcoming MXGP of China in Shanghai and the season finale in Darwin, Australia.

Gajser originally sustained the injury during the Grand Prix in the Netherlands. Although he attempted to compete in the Grand Prix of Turkey, where he secured a fourth-place finish despite significant pain, medical examinations following the event revealed that the injury had worsened. In coordination with Yamaha, Gajser has decided to focus entirely on his recovery. He currently sits third in the championship standings.
