Tim Kennedy wounded in deadly Democratic Republic of Congo ambush
Former UFC fighter and US Army Green Beret Tim Kennedy is recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland after being wounded in an ambush in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kennedy, 47, sustained three gunshot wounds during an attack on September 17 in the South Kivu province. He was working in the region for Vectus Global, a private security firm founded by Erik Prince, when his team was targeted. The assault resulted in at least 20 people being killed or injured, including Congolese nationals and a former member of the New Zealand Special Forces.
US Representative Derrick Van Orden confirmed Kennedy’s survival on social media, asking for prayers for his recovery and his family. While no group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack, Congolese government sources have suggested that Rwandan forces supporting the M23 group may have been involved in tracking the team.
