Tim Maia remembered on what would have been his 84th birthday

Brazilian singer Alcione commemorated the birthday of soul music icon Tim Maia, who would have been 84 years old on September 28. Sharing a rare photograph from the 1989 Brazilian Music Award, Alcione celebrated the legacy of the late artist alongside other musical figures.

In connection with his legacy, the band Jota Quest has recorded a remake of the classic “Acenda o Farol” as part of a special tribute album scheduled for release in March 2026. The project will feature various songs from Tim Maia’s career, including “Gostava Tanto de Você” and tracks from his Racional period.
