TIM modernizes 1,200 antennas in Brasília and Salvador
TIM has completed the modernization of approximately 1,200 radio base stations (ERBs) in Brasília and Salvador. In Brasília, 680 sites were updated, benefiting 1.1 million customers and increasing average 5G speeds by over 15% to exceed 500 Mbps. In Salvador, 500 sites were modernized, impacting 1.3 million users and resulting in a 53% increase in average 5G speeds, surpassing 600 Mbps.
The new infrastructure incorporates artificial intelligence and automation to monitor data traffic variations, anticipate potential failures, and automatically adjust signal distribution. These optimizations have also led to a 15% reduction in energy consumption.
This initiative is part of a three-year national program scheduled from 2025 to 2027, aiming to modernize 9,500 4G and 5G sites across 692 municipalities to reach 25 million customers. Previous stages of the program included the modernization of 3,000 sites in São Paulo and 722 sites in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area.
