Tim Scott defends Darline Graham's national security credentials
Senator Tim Scott has defended Republican Darline Graham following her recent debate performance in the South Carolina Senate runoff election. During a debate against Representative Ralph Norman, Graham stated, “I’m not that informed on national security,” and noted that the subject is not her area of expertise when questioned about U.S. interests in Taiwan and the South China Sea.
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Scott asserted that Graham is prepared to serve and possesses the necessary understanding of national security, though he did not provide specific details of her experience in the field. Graham was appointed to the Senate seat previously held by her brother, Lindsey Graham, following his death in July.
Donald Trump has also expressed support for Graham, describing her debate response as “a very honest answer.” The runoff election between Graham and Norman is scheduled for Tuesday.
