Timber construction industry sees growth in professional training and sustainable building
The timber construction industry is seeing increased interest due to the growing importance of sustainable and climate-friendly building practices. In Switzerland, the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Biel has announced a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in ‘Building with Wood’ starting in the spring semester of 2027.
The program is designed for professionals, including architects, civil engineers, and decision-makers, seeking to master modern multi-story timber construction. The curriculum covers the entire value chain, from material properties and structural planning to project management and construction site logistics, supplemented by practical excursions to sawmills and forests.
In Germany, the wood industry continues to offer diverse career opportunities across various sectors. As digitalization advances, the field requires expertise in areas such as e-commerce, wholesale management, and logistics to manage the flow of this renewable natural material effectively.
