Time Out triumphs in Venice Lido Race as Melges 32 Wilma leads Trans Benaco regatta
The Round the Lido Race 2026 was held on 25 July, starting from San Servolo and finishing at the Lido mouths before returning to San Servolo. Thirty‑two crews competed over a ten‑nautical‑mile course in cool, dry weather with 8‑10‑knot winds. Enrico Zennaro’s boat **Time Out** secured overall victory for the Circolo Nautico Chioggia, while special prizes were awarded to the last‑placed overall crew and the vessel that sailed the greatest distance.
Meanwhile, the opening day of the 40th Trans Benaco Cruise Race on Lake Garda featured 54 yachts. The **Melges 32 Wilma**, skippered by Carlo Cavagna, emerged at the top of the provisional leaderboard in the ORC class, followed closely by another Melges 32, **Fremitod’Arja**, and the PO’RA of Limone Garda Sailing ASD. The race began in light winds that later intensified, prompting race officials to adjust the starting line.
Both events highlighted strong participation from Italian sailing clubs and showcased environmental initiatives, with the Lido race crews collecting plastic debris during the offshore leg.
