Time Out's 2026 city rankings spotlight Bucharest street‑food and Gen Z‑favoured cities

Time Out’s annual 2026 rankings list Bucharest as the only European city among the world’s 20 best street‑food destinations, placing it at 18th overall. The street‑food list is dominated by Asian cities, with Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) topping the chart at 63% approval.

In a separate Time Out survey for Generation Z, the magazine ranked Tokyo first for happiness, followed by Porto, Melbourne, Edinburgh and Shanghai. The ranking is based on responses from residents under 30, highlighting factors such as community feeling, cultural scene, affordability and overall well‑being.
