Times Car data breach leaks 6.6 million users' personal information

A major data breach at the car-sharing service Times Car has resulted in the potential leak of approximately 6.6 million members' personal information. The compromised data includes names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, and potentially images of driver's licenses.

Experts suggest that individuals affected should report the leak to Japan's three major credit information agencies to prevent identity theft. By notifying these institutions, financial entities can implement stricter screening processes to block fraudulent applications made using the stolen credentials. Due to the scale of the incident, these agencies have reported high volumes of access and inquiries.

Park24, the operator of Times Car, is currently conducting an investigation through an external specialist organization and plans to announce measures to prevent recurrence. Regarding compensation, the company stated it will contact relevant parties as new information becomes available and provide updates via its website.
