Timiș County Council initiates tourism development in Poiana Ruscă Mountains

The Timiș County Council is implementing a long-term strategy to develop the mountainous eastern region of Timiș County, specifically focusing on the Poiana Ruscă Mountains area. This initiative aims to transform scattered natural landmarks into a cohesive tourist destination.

Key locations targeted for promotion and infrastructure investment include the Făget – Transluncani – Surduc area, the Șopot waterfall, Tomești, Pietroasa, and Surduc Lake. Recent efforts have included the installation of rustic wooden furniture in several locations to enhance the visitor experience.

Local authorities, including County Council President Alfred Simonis and representatives from Visit Timiș, have conducted site visits to coordinate efforts between the council and local mayors. The strategy seeks to leverage natural assets such as caves, waterfalls, and old wooden churches to stimulate the local economy and encourage longer tourist stays by improving roads and amenities.
