Timiș minibus driver caught driving drunk with 14 students

On September 7, 2026, police in Gătaia, Timiș County, intercepted a minibus transporting 14 students on the Jamu Mare – Gătaia route. The driver was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

A breathalyzer test conducted by authorities revealed an alcohol concentration of 0.35 mg/l in the driver's exhaled air. As a result, the driver was issued a fine of 4,325 lei and had their driving license suspended for 90 days.

The Timiș County Police Inspectorate (IPJ Timiș) stated that they will continue inspections of school transportation services to prevent road accidents and ensure the safety of students.
