Timimoun to host inaugural Balloon Festival in the Algerian Sahara

Timimoun, Algeria, will host its inaugural Balloon Festival from October 28 to November 2, 2026. The event aims to promote Saharan tourism through a variety of aerial and desert-based activities.

The festival begins on October 28 with the unveiling of a hot air balloon featuring the colors of the Algerian national flag, followed by a musical evening. The subsequent days include giant kite demonstrations, kite-making workshops for students, and nocturnal balloon displays.

On October 30, professional pilots will lead sunrise balloon flights, supported by the Algerian Federation of Air Sports. The program also features desert excursions via 4x4 vehicles, desert dinners, and kite competitions. The event will conclude on November 1 with a closing ceremony featuring fireworks and balloon flights.
