Timișoara announces autumn cleaning campaign and warns of parking fraud

Timișoara City Hall has announced the launch of its autumn cleaning campaign, ‘Curățenie până la bordură’, starting in September. To facilitate mechanical sweeping and washing of roads to remove dust and debris, the city is implementing an alternative parking system. Drivers on designated streets must temporarily vacate one side of the roadway according to a set schedule. Failure to comply with these temporary restrictions, which apply to both public parking and the TimPark system, may result in fines ranging from 500 to 1,500 lei.

Separately, the municipality and the public parking service, TIMPARK, have issued a warning regarding a smishing fraud campaign. Scammers are sending SMS messages falsely claiming that drivers have unpaid parking fees or penalties, urging them to click a link to make a payment. Authorities emphasize that TIMPARK never sends SMS messages containing links for payments. Official messages are strictly limited to confirmations of payments initiated by the user. Citizens are advised to use only official channels, such as the TIMPARK mobile app or official website, to verify parking status.
